First thing you need to do is to think if you want or can join the fight. Not everyone wants to fight or engage but the fight will happen regardless. Because you will mostly play soloQ, you need to remember that these fights start without having the entire team on the same page. The early game teamfights are usually skirmishes, starting from 2v2 against the enemy bot to 3v3 or 4v4s with the jungler and midlane. Be mindful that you can also use your traps as terrain, what this means is you can force the enemy to path in a certain direction depending on how you place your trap. You need to get good at predicting the enemy movement in order to land your traps on them. After you do this, keep the traps that you still have for use against CC’ed opponents or enemies that want to get on top of you. Then the enemy will be forced to use dashes or to around your traps so then their engage or pathing will be predictable. Try to create a line of traps at different choke points in order to lock enemies out of objectives.

Your W Yordle Snap Trap is the key spell that you need to learn how to use in order to teamfight properly.

E 90 Caliber Net is the more reliable and easier to hit spell of the two but it has a high cooldown so you won’t use it more than once in a teamfight that often. In order to make space between yourself and the opponent, you have your E 90 Caliber Net and W Yordle Snap Trap which are great at this. So Caitlyn is weak to being in “melee” range of the opponent. When an enemy gets on top of her, she needs to get away as soon as possible or she will get decimated. Caitlyn’s main weakness is similar to most ADCs and that is how fragile and immobile she is.In these situations you need to remind yourself of the weaknesses of your own champion so let’s talk about what you should be careful of when teamfighting as Caitlyn: When playing Caitlyn, as with many ADCs for that matter, you will find yourself going for more damage every fight, even putting yourself in danger to squeeze in that extra auto. I will explain more about their usage in the next paragraphs. The snare + damage combo is amazing and will destroy enemy players in the late game. Their correct usage is required in order to get the best out of Caitlyn at elos above Gold. Caitlyn’s biggest strength and the ability which makes Caitlyn have such a high ceiling as a champion is her traps. If you are not sure of the enemy team's cooldown, you can keep the Headshot for when the teamfight starts. Be careful to do this only when you know the enemy team cannot engage you. Headshot provides additional damage on every 6th shot you can try and auto minions to get the passive, wait for Rapid Firecannon to be up and then auto an enemy from afar for good poke in the late game. Another Strength of Caitlyn is her late game damage with Headshot. The worst feeling as Caitlyn is when you kite an enemy and you are close to killing them but you can’t move back anymore as there is a wall behind you so you get one-shot. This means you should always look to fight in an open space, where you can move around and always keep the enemy at 650 units away.

For Caitlyn, one of her biggest strengths is her 650 base range which can get improved by buying Rapid Firecannon.Every champion has their Strengths and Weaknesses and you should be aware of them. Play to your strengths this is something general for any champion you play but is something you should always be mindful about when you play League of Legends. ADCs in general love to keep their enemies at a distance, but while some have the luxury of being able to fight in “melee” range if they want to, such as Kai'Sa and Samira, Caitlyn is fragile and will not last long if she gets too close to the enemies Caitlyn usually likes to play teamfights around her maximum range, always kiting her opponents.
